I get a "Sorry, this ebook is in use" message when trying to view an ebook. How do I view it?

Answer

Some of our ebooks are purchased as 1-user-at-a-time access.

This means that if someone is currently viewing that ebook within their browser (or has it downloaded), you will be denied access until the current user is finished (closes the tab for that title) or the book is returned from their ebook reader.

View eBook Full Text. Sorry this eBook is in use. Currently, 0 other users are in the hold queue for this eBook. Please sign in to place a hold on this eBook. Sign In/Create Account.

If this happens, you can either:

1. Check back later. For ease of access, copy the Permalink to the title.

  • Under Tools menu, right hand side of screen, click on the Permalink option.
  • Copy the text in the popup box that appears at the top of the screen.

Permalink is highlighted in Tools menu, righthand side of screen, the 9th (last) option. The Permalink pop up box is highlighted in the center of the screen, where a textbox displays the link to be copied.

2. Place a hold, which will alert you by email when the title becomes available.

  • Your hold lasts one hour.

Download eBook (Borrow). Place Hold. You will be notified when the book is available at this email addresses. Options: Cancel and Place Hold.
