Public Performance Rights

Answer

University Library will purchase items at the lowest cost for the collection so that teaching faculty may exercise fair use in the classroom. While public performance rights are not specifically purchased for material in the collection, some films may only be acquired with perpetual public performance rights. Public performance rights, outside of the library material that includes public performance rights, must be obtained by the campus group organizing public screenings prior to scheduling, advertising, or showing a copyrighted film. Campus groups

organizing public screenings are responsible for securing permission and paying fees for public performance licenses. (LAPC approved Films/Public Performance Rights 2019-09-19)
