Special Collections
Answer
University Library's special collections consist of aggregates of material unique in their historic value that require specialized security and access. University Library's collects, preserves, and provides restricted access to this material. Special Collections material does not circulate. For Rider Faculty Publications Collection, one copy of works for which a faculty member is the author, software designer, or editor may be purchased, and added to the special collection by the Archivist.
The library will not normally purchase books or individual issues of a journal with single poems, single essays, encyclopedia entries, or single stories by a faculty member. Decisions concerning purchase of a second, circulating copy of a faculty publication will be made on a case-by-case basis and is at the discretion of the liaison librarian using the Library’s Collection Development Policy’s core selection criteria.
