Freshman Textbook Collection

Answer

a. Faculty Request to Use Freshman Textbook Collection: University Libraries acknowledges that the spirit and intention of the freshman textbook collection is to reduce cost barriers for freshman textbooks, which is why the primary patrons for this collection should be students. With this acknowledgment in mind, faculty members should check the general collection for the textbook. If the textbook is unavailable in the general collection, faculty members may contact the Rider University Libraries Chair to request a textbook that is on freshman reserve. The Rider University Libraries Chair may then determine availability and duration of the loan period. b. Weeding/Deactivating from Reserve: Textbooks are weeded from the freshmen textbook reserve if the textbook is an older edition and/or if the teaching faculty member requests that a book is removed. When the book has been weeded, the Dean of the Libraries should determine if the book may be added to the collection, weeded, or returned to the president’s office.
